super-quick, super-thrifty cutlery holder

today I wanted to share with you something I did for our Easter gathering. I know Easter is over, but this is an idea that's super-quick, super-thrifty and you can make variations of it for any occasion.

our Easter meal this year was very casual. Firstly it wasn't a "sit-down" meal, and secondly, I was gone at my son's volleyball tournament most of the weekend!

so it was put together pretty quickly, but I still wanted it to look nice.

\
so I had my big vase of tulips, and a couple of bunnies set out

but what to do with the cutlery? I had rolled the cutlery in thick white paper napkins and secured the napkins with cute 3-D flower stickers

so I got out a tall tin can I'd been saving and covered it with a brown paisley scrapbooking paper. I used glue dots as I had them at hand, but spray adhesive would work well too

wound a long length of vintage lace around and around the can and tied it loosely

added a chocolate carrot and voila - cutlery holder!

Now, if I'd had more time I would have prettied up the top, some pom-poms would look cute.

I've used this idea before for backyard BBQs in the summer - just change the paper to suit the occasion

Told you it was super-quick and super-thrifty!

Hi Tracey! Great blog. I see a lot of similar things to my home in there. Maybe you have shopped at Homesense? Since we are neighbours, we can swap great places to shop. I am always looking for bargains.

Love this idea! For my Son's Graduation party I covered can of tomatoes with his school papers...(we finally found a purpose for those LOL!) to hold flowers. Aren't we just so thrifty and smart????
