such bliss...

our yard is not all that big...

and we've planted it up from scratch...

but what a thrill to be able to actually cut blooms from your own yard...

]

and fill the house with them....

in a favorite pitcher...

or simple jar...

(i know, i know, i seriously need a bigger nest in my birdcage!)
i'm working on it...

shabby rose pitchers

firstly, thank you to all my sweet blogging friends for their advice on my mirror dilemma

i've made my decision and will reveal once it's on the wall (we bought the wrong hardware!)

so, did I choose gold or white??

you'll have to wait and see.....

today i wanted to show you these cute galvanised pitchers I've given a makeover

they were pretty unremarkable looking before (sorry, why am I so bad at taking "before" pictures - I'm always in such a hurry to dive in and start the project - I know some of you girls are with me there!)

found the big one first, painted it heirloom white, quite a few coats on top of primer to get it looking nice

couldn't believe it when I came across a similar mini version, so gave this one a good painting too

printed off this charming graphic from Karen at the Graphics Fairy (such a treat to see what she has for us each day!)

modge-podged it to the pitcher (loooove modge podge)

with a teensy version for the mini pitcher, front and back so they look good from any angle!

see what a nice scrolled handle it has

and here we have my set of shabby rose pitchers!

wouldn't they look sweet in the bathroom, or on a covered porch filled with flowers, or even in the kitchen

burlap and ruffles, ruffles and burlap.....

what's a girl to do on a blah day?
eat chocolate?
create?

I decided to go with the create option. I have this yummy piece of burlap I was planning to make into a table runner for my kitchen table. See how nice and light it is, I believe it is called oyster, but it's basically off-white!

Teamed it up with some nice creamy white muslin and white broderie anglaise lace

Anyways, after I saw the gorgeous coffee sack runner my junking friend Janis of junkdreams created (you have to hop over and follow her blog, she is so amazing and unbelievably creative)...

I decided to leave the kitchen table runner for now and make a smaller rectangular one

okay, I confess

what I really wanted to do was make ruffles. Nothing cures the blahs like a few ruffles...

so here we have it, I put on two fluffy ruffles and a piece of lace.
Okay, I added the lace 'cos I was too lazy to finish the top of the ruffle!

but honestly I hardly ever get to finish a project in one sitting and today I just had to!

it is perfect for my narrow shaker nesting tables

white pitcher. white nemesis flowers. shabby white candlestick.vintage jars with scrabble tiles and boggle dice

doesn't get much better than that girls

looooove vintage glass jars

looooove scrabble tiles and vintage game pieces

looooove shabby white candlesticks (for sale in my etsy store)

turned out pretty nice I think!

and this is how it looks in my real world, with my lamp that needs a shade revamp and an outdated family photo. shabby at heart I do like a touch of black in the room!

feel so much better, and now I'm off to eat chocolate!!
and gaze at my pretty ruffles

shabby, ruffly, lineny white wednesday

just love having an excuse to celebrate white pretties!

love this rustic white bench with the glass cloches, pillows in the wicker basket, wildflowers in a jar, breezy sheer drapes...

romantic white picnic, complete with vintage picnic basket and binoculars, and of course a straw hat (personally I look awful in hats)...

mmmmm, don't you just swoon over a pile of vintage linens piled on a chippy white chair...

stunning tall white pitchers filled with flowers, isn't the abundance of satin ribbon a nice touch...

my favorite - isn't this tablecloth incredible! I have to find one of these! I guess I could make one but that is an awful lot of ruffles...
