sparkly gems

i picked up this huge glass hurricane for a steal a while back (at a thrift store of course!)

and decided to fill the base with decorative sand...

did I mention it is huge, I could barely see the first bag of sand I poured in there

time for another plan...

so I discovered these fake sparkly jewels at Michaels

used my coupons to buy two packs, just love them

nestled a big fat candle in the middle

and finished it off with a long strip of my stamped french fabric (still loooving those stamps!)

doesn't it look pretty!

Take a look here for the parties I'm linking up to!

happy days,
Tracey

So pretty! Love the idea of tying the ribbon around the bottom, and those jewels are fun - I've seen them before, but never known what to do with them...think i'm going to have to get some for my own hurricane (which is also needing a makeover!). Thanks for the idea, and thanks for visiting my blog!!

Cute idea using the "gems." I don't think I've ever seen them before. And I really love the stamped ribbon. I need to purchase some stamps and get creative - I've seen so many clever ideas recently.

I really like those gems. I saw some but they weren't white. Love yours! They look wonderful in your hurricane candle.

I love those plastic gems :) And your hurricane looks great. It's always nice when you find something BIG at a thrift store since most used stuff seems to be tiny and nick-nacky. Good job!
